A banda fora formada em Londres em 1980 pelo baixista Mark King, o vocalista/tecladista Mike Lindup, o guitarrista Boon Gould e pelo baterista Phil Gould. Naquele mesmo ano, no verão mais precisamente, uma de suas canções estaria no UK Top 75 hits, uma das ditas listas mais respeitadas no ramo da música.Em 1981 seus hits tornaram-se marcos: "Love meeting love", "Love games" e "Turn it on", que levou o nome de estréia do albúm da banda, ficando em 20º lugar na categoria dos álbuns. Não obstante vieram "Are you hearing (what I hear)?" oferecendo-nos mais tarde "Chinese Way", que entrou para a primeira colocação no Top 10. A música "Standing in the light" simplesmente posicionou o grupo na primeira divisão musical.
"Something about you", hit este bastante conhecido no Brasil assim como "Lessons in Love". Uma foi, certamente, o "grande salto" e a outra, resumidamente, conquistou de primeira o título de um dos grandes hits daquela temporada na Alemanha.
